Welcome to the website of Berowra Rural Fire Brigade.
Berowra is a unique community, surrounded by Berowra Valley National Park, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and Muogamarra Sanctuary. It is a beautiful place to live, but it also carries a long-standing bushfire risk that has shaped our local history for more than a century.
As part of the NSW Rural Fire Service, Berowra Rural Fire Brigade is a volunteer-based emergency service committed to protecting life, property, the community and the environment. Our members respond to bush and grass fires, structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, storm damage, search and rescue incidents, and other emergencies. We also support hazard reduction, community education and bushfire preparedness.
Our brigade is made up of local volunteers. We live here, work here, raise families here, and care deeply about the safety of our community. We are your neighbours, and we are here to help.
Berowra has faced many serious bushfire threats over the years, from early recorded fires in the 1900s through to major incidents affecting Berowra Waters, Cowan, Mt Kuring-gai, Berowra Heights and surrounding bushland. That history reminds us that preparation matters, and that strong local volunteer brigades remain essential.
We welcome contact from residents, businesses, schools, community groups and local organisations. You are welcome to reach out, visit us at the station, or invite us to meet with your organisation or community group. We can talk about bushfire preparedness, local risk, home fire safety, volunteering, and how we can work together to keep Berowra safer.
Whether you are looking for information about preparedness, brigade history, volunteering, local updates or community safety, we hope this website helps you stay informed and connected.
Best regards,
James Baird - Captain
